Best Highlighter Makeup | How to Use Highlighter

Types of Highlighters

Highlighters are light-reflecting products, available in liquid, cream, and powder form. They enhance your complexion and give skin a brighter, dewy glow as well as making cheekbones look more prominent.

When light hits the higher points of your face, the highlighter makes your face look younger and fresher.

Where I can apply highlighter?

On your cheeks: Always apply highlighter above your cheekbones—never below.

On your nose: You can help make your nose look slimmer by applying a highlighter straight down the bridge of your nose.

On your eyes: Help yourself look more awake by putting some highlighter around the inner corner of your eyes.

On your lips: You can get the illusion of fuller lips by applying a touch of highlighter on your cupid’s bow.

What type of the highlighter is better for me?

Liquid highlighter: The consistency of liquid highlighters can be your oily skin problem as they are likely to slip as the day progresses. A liquid highlight is the best for you if your skin is dry. Plus, not like other formulations, their concentration is less. The liquid is the perfect highlighter to achieve the natural, dewy finish, and its application is incredibly versatile. Mix a small bit of highlight into your foundation to create a beautiful all-over glow. To create a more concentrated glow, apply tiny dabs of highlighter following your face’s high points.

Powder highlighter: Having a strong concentration of shimmer, it is easy to overdo. However, the powder is also the most suitable formulation for oily skin. Blend seamlessly into your foundation while using a light hand, and be wary as it’s likely to become greasy and easily slips off.

Powder highlighter

Powder highlights are meant to be used only on the high points of the face. Don’t highlight with shimmer and try to contour your face. If you like strobing, use powder as it is easily controllable as long as your brush is not full of the product.

Creamy/Stick highlighter: This type of highlighter is good for Normal skin to Dry skin. It has a natural shimmer finished and good for daily makeup.

What color of the highlighter should I buy?

Generally, you’ll want to pick up a highlighter shade that’s about two shades lighter than your skin tone for a natural-looking finish. You can also find the perfect highlighter for your complexion by relying on your undertones.

Look for highlighters with peach or gold undertones. Hues like golden and champagne are best for medium to wheatish skin tones. Iridescent shades can also work but look for colors that have more warmth to them. Stay away from pink as it might come across harsh against your warm complexion
