For fresh air in fashion’s lungs, Milan Fashion Week has held to present spring/summer 2021 collections under the special circumstances. So, some brands and designers have presented their collections in a different and unusual manner to decrease the health risk.
“We need to dream, we need to be inspired, we need to uplift and transported, now more than ever.” said Jeremy Scott, speaking to British Vogue over Zoom.
As always, Jeremy Scott, Moschino’s creative director, surprised us with his creative works. He decided to use marionettes instead of real models on the runway for Milan Fashion Week. I believe with this action Moschino’s spring/summer 2021 collection has been recorded in the history of fashion weeks.
However, making clothes and accessories according to the real size of live models and walk on a real runway is so easier than making all of them in miniature size, but it’s a fascinating, creative & enjoyable challenge for Jeremy Scott.
All the puppets had been made by Jim Henson’s Creature Shop company in 30 inches. In addition, they simulate VIP guests on the front row such as Anna Wintour and Edward Enninful, British Vogue editor.
Elegant dresses with oversized bows and tulle skirts, and dramatic collars and capes, in soft pinks and dusty blues, pea green, gold, and black are the specific features in this spring/summer 2021 Moschino’s collection. Also, some interesting details were exhibited through this miniature runway; garments’ inverted details, with corset boning, seams, and pocket interiors emphasized on the exterior of garments, and underskirts fanning out below the hemlines. At the end of this film, Scott appears in puppet form in his show.
This Ready To Wear collection will be available for sale in real size.
